Title: “A Systematic Examination of CB as Relates to Textiles – Threats, Needs and Opportunities”
Abstract:
An historical review of timeline, development and use of Chemical and Biological agents in warfare will be presented. The types of agent, vectors of contact and physiological results of said contact will be briefly discussed. Some historical philosophy, strategy and materials employed in attempting to minimize personnel and collateral damage during at risk operations will be described. There will be an examination of thoughts, plans and actions which occur prior to exposure and continue through all clear conditions. This will allow for a more thorough understanding of capabilities and shortcomings of current technology in operation under CB conditions. Finally, thoughts of present and future potential opportunities will complete the talk. This discussion will entail material needs for which textiles are currently being employed as well as material needs that are not currently being filled by textiles.
